It is not very often that you meet someone that goes out of their way to encourage you, even without knowing you from a hole in the wall. Now granted, I know that throughout these blog posts, I have mentioned that the entire team will make you feel like the superstar that you are (even when you aren't feeling very super-star-ish).
Chrome included: One of Chromes admirable qualities that sticks out is the fact that she went out of her way with helping many of us from the very beginning.
There was no question that if you were having a crap day, or a tough night at practice and wanted to throw in the proverbial towel she would pick you up and take the time and guide you through the rough patch.
There were many things I personally struggled with during practice that Chrome truly pushed me to achieve. When there were nights I wanted to leave crying because I was not picking up a skill and I made it to practice five minutes late with baby food stuck in my hair and only one knee pad; so I felt like throwing a pity party, that wasn't allowed, and I am forever grateful for those moments. I started to see a pattern she was really like that with anybody that needed it. Tough love and positive encouragement, she truly showed many of us what the derby family and life was all about.
She spends several hours a week on her skates, during practice with Two Rivers and she is a coach of a junior team as well. She does such an amazing job, especially since the kids are all random ages. Chrome offered up all skaters time to practice with her and the junior team to help us out and get more time on our skates. She incorporated practice for us with the practice for her juniors which was an awesome thing to do because there were times that we couldn't make it to practice.
She is a talented, strong skater that packs a punch and knows how to bake like a beast. (Perks of being on our team is getting delicious and amazing snacks from Chrome lol).

Can you explain a little about what a derby wife is and who your wife is and why?
A derby wife is someone that has your back, on and off the track. My derby wife is Caitlyn Langer, or Dolly Voodoo, we just clicked. Dolly is an amazing woman, mother. She a kick ass derby player teammate, coach, and an amazing friend.
Dolly and Chrome Derby wives on and off track
What are you biggest challenges as a derby skater/player? Positional blocking.
Hardest skill to learn for you? Hockey stops, still havent figured them out.
Easiest and or favorite skill? Turn around toe stops.
You are coach for junior derby how did that come about? Another member of my original derby team the Skyland Roller Girls started the 4-H club and asked me if I wanted to be apart of it and so it went from there. We started with four kids and are currently at 14.
To all the potential fresh meats reading this: Why join? Because the friendships you make will be amazing.
What did derby do for you? Derby gave me confidence, and helped me in my weight loss journey.
What do you wish to pass on as a vet to rookies and fresh meats? Don't take too much personal, this is a highly aggressive (hands on) and passionate sport.
We don't know how she does it sometimes, with family, work, derby and junior derby, but she does. We love having Chrome as part of our amazing team.
